“The Coffee Snob: A Brief Introduction to the Cafe Menu” by David Foster is a wonderful little addition to the literary world. Witty and full of information, this quick read is a must for anyone looking to better understand the cafe menu, to check their knowledge of the classics, or become more aware of just how the classic coffee drinks are made.
The book covers the latte, cappuccino, macchiato, americano, and mocha. The humorous banter and insightful commentary is great for newcomers and those, like myself, who are still unsure and new to the coffee world. There’s nice insight into a baristas mindset and the difficult balance of educating versus pleasing the public – partially due to the language being tampered with (by the popular green mermaid, a lovely little joke throughout the book).
You can pick this book up on Amazon and read it within the hour. You won’t regret it, and you’ll have gained some serious coffee knowledge!
